Flex 2002 News:
Dental Contributions Introduced for 2002
In 1999, Merck made specific changes to the benefits available under the
Dental Plan aimed at enhancing both the competitiveness and appropriateness
of this valuable benefit. Starting in 2002, the Company is changing the
way full- and part-time employees pay for dental coverage—by introducing
employee payroll deductions for most options.
For the first time, the
comprehensive dental option and the managed care dental plan organizations
(DPOs) will require employee contributions ranging from $2 to $10 per month
($24 to $120 annually). And, only the preventive dental option—for employee
only coverage—will be available at no cost (for full-time employees
only). For information about contributions by dental coverage option, view
chart.
