Flex 2002
News: Medical Contributions Increase for 2002
Currently, employees share in the cost of medical coverage through payroll
deductions—many of which have not changed for five years. For 2002, employee
contributions for all medical options—except the 90/10 option—will increase
as follows for full-time and part-time employees alike:
- Contributions
for employee only coverage will increase by $3 per month
($36 annually).
- Contributions
for employee plus one dependent and employee plus two or
more dependents coverage will increase by $5 per month
($60 annually).
As a result, all
medical options will require employee contributions.
Fast
Fact
Merck’s analysis shows that contributions for the 90/10 option—which
were raised significantly in 1998—continue to be appropriate.
Therefore, employee contributions for this option will not
increase in 2002. |
