Flex 2002 News:
New HMO Option for Danville and Lehigh Valley Pennsylvania
In an effort to offer employees access to meaningful medical—and managed
care—choices, Merck continuously evaluates health care plans in all major
U.S. markets. For 2002, the Company is pleased to report that employees
in the Danville and Lehigh Valley areas of Pennsylvania will have access
to an additional HMO, Keystone Health Plan Central.
By adding Keystone
Health Plan Central, Merck is providing approximately 1,100 employees
with an additional managed care medical coverage choice. The newly-available
HMO has earned the highest (“excellent”) accreditation status from the National
Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)—and recently received high marks
from consumers in a state-sponsored survey. The HMO offers a special focus
on preventive care, as well as access to leading area hospitals, including
Geisinger Medical Center and Lehigh Valley Hospital, which recently ended
its contract with Aetna U.S. Healthcare.
