Science & Technology

  • Develop, scale-up and efficiently launch new products through commercialization facilities.
  • Provide global technical solutions to transfer, optimize, proactively maintain and troubleshoot processes ensuring supply, compliance and competitive value.
  • Develop and deliver cost effective capital projects safely, reliably and on schedule.
  • Support the discovery, manufacturing and delivery of the Company's products and contribute to the Company's success through safety and environmental excellence.
  • Protect and promote products through innovative packaging.

Quality

  • Develop sound regulatory documents and validation competence.
  • Facilitate the approval of new products and maintain in-line product licenses worldwide.
  • Develop analytical methodology and test products during various stages of the manufacturing process as well as finished product prior to release into the market.
  • Use common methods of analysis such as High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography, UV-VIS, NIR, Dissolution.

Operations

  • Manufacture chemical, pharmaceutical and biological products of the highest quality in compliance with regulatory obligations.
  • Protect the safety and health of our employees and the communities in which we work. 
  • Maintain a supply of all products in sufficient quantity to meet the needs of our patients worldwide.
  • Continuously improve our processes and apply lean manufacturing principles.

Global Procurement

  • Collaborate with Merck's businesses to ensure effective management and leverage of all external expenditure.
  • Manage the strategic sourcing process for the company to source qualified suppliers of goods and services, including  minority-, women- and veteran-owned businesses.
  • Negotiate and implement supply agreements to optimize value and minimize risk for Merck.
  • Work with the businesses to ensure compliance with procurement policies and agreements.
  • Lead the process for managing and improving mutual benefit from key supplier relationships.

Supply Chain Management

  • Manage the Merck Supply Chain from customer order through product delivery.
  • Use appropriate tools and models to assure efficient and competitive performance.
  • Develop and provide business and technical development training and communications via e-Learning and conventional classroom venues.

Operational Excellence

  • Facilitate an enterprise-wide culture focused on design, problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Create a network for learning and sharing to assist the divisions with Operational Excellence.
  • Provide leadership and support to high business impact projects.
  • Provide methodology leadership and consultation to Operational Excellence projects.

Merck Manufacturing Development Program

  • In Manufacturing, we offer a rotational program designed to give recent college graduates the opportunity to gain a broad perspective of the core technical and business functions critical to the supply of Merck's products.
  • It is a two-year program comprised of three 8-month assignments.
  • The rotations are through areas such as Science & Technology, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain Management and Procurement.
