Overview Approach Targets

Cervical cancer takes the lives of more than 250,000 women a year, 80 percent of whom live in developing countries.1 In 2007, Merck announced at the Clinton Global Initiative a major vaccine access initiative, the GARDASIL Access Program. Through this initiative, Merck has pledged to donate at least 3 million doses of GARDASIL® [Human Papillomavirus Quadrivalent (Types 6, 11, 16, 18) Vaccine, Recombinant], Merck's cervical cancer vaccine, to support vaccination programs in the lowest-income countries during the next five years.
