Merck & Co., Inc. is a global research-driven pharmaceutical company dedicated to putting patients first.

Fostering Supplier Diversity

Advancing the Dialogue Toward a Healthier Future

Overview Approach Performance Priorities and Goals

  • In 2008, Merck's CEO and Executive Committee signed a supplier diversity commitment to reach 14 percent in 2008 and 17 percent by 2010 as a percentage of total applicable spend in the United States and Puerto Rico. In order to reach these aggressive goals, internal  communication and increased awareness is a key priority. We are leveraging key executives, Global Procurement associates and internal Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to accomplish this goal.
  • Additionally a formal goal for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) spend will be established in 2010.
