Disclosure of Company Grants to Organizations within Europe, Middle East, Africa & Canada (EMEAC)
The headquarters of Merck for the Europe, Middle East, Africa & Canada region is based in Munich, Germany. The region consists of 135 countries. Nearly 1.9 billion people speak more than 110 different languages within this region, where Merck is also known as MSD, Merck Sharp & Dohme or Merck Frosst.
While disclosure of supported patient organizations became mandatory in Europe at the end of March 2009, MSD in Europe, theMiddle East and Africa has voluntarily disclosed support to patient organizations since 2008. Canada will report payments from 2009 onwards later this year. The information published includes the organization, the amounts received, the dates of payment and the project for which the money is used.
By the end of 2009, Merck in Europe, Middle East, Africa & Canada will also disclose grants to other third party institutions from January 2009 in the same format.
