Conducting Ourselves Ethically and Transparently

Advancing the Dialogue Toward a Healthier Future

Overview Approach Public Policy Performance Priorities and Goals

  • We want to achieve a 95 percent completion rate of new ethics training courses by required employee populations, including Know the Code, by the end of 2009. We want to increase the non-U.S. volume of calls to the Office of Ethics to 0.4 percent from 0.3 percent of total calls.
  • We want to achieve a 100 percent response rate to the disclosure statement on conflicts of interest by 2010.
  • In the absence of a legislative requirement, we plan to voluntarily disclose in the fourth quarter of 2009 all payments to US-based health care professionals who speak on behalf of Merck or our products.
