Merck Institute for Science Education: K - 12

Advancing the Dialogue Toward a Healthier Future

Overview Approach Public Policy Performance Priorities and Goals

  • The Merck Institute for Science Education (MISE) will continue to focus on its priority goal: To improve the interest, participation and performance of students in science in grades K-12. During the next three years, MISE plans to expand its work to additional school districts. MISE will provide each new site with technical assistance and access to current MISE programs, including teacher workshops and the Academy for Leadership in Science Instruction. Specific targets for this work are currently being developed in collaboration with an external evaluator.
  • Additional communications initiatives will be mounted to reach new audiences and disseminate lessons learned. Also, MISE will continue to monitor the education policy landscape and serve as a resource for state and national policymakers.
  • We plan to report longitudinal data on the Grade 4 State Science Test (NJ) as soon as it becomes available, and to make further evaluation reports available on www.mise.org.
