The field of pharmaceutical research and development looks much different now than it did 50 years ago, in George Merck's day. Today, Merck scientists use advanced tools such as bioinformatics, combinatorial chemistry, genomics, high-throughput screening, recombinant DNA techniques and computerized molecular modeling to help in the development of novel vaccines and medicines. Yet however the science may have changed, our commitment to putting patients first has never wavered.
