Introduction

About 50 disorders can affect the perianal area; pruritus and hemorrhoids are the most common among adults of all ages. Other anorectal disorders include those affecting crypts and papillae (which mark the proximal end of the anal canal) and deep rectal glands, fecal incontinence, and cancer.
