Introduction

Rehabilitation can be tailored toward specific problems, such as heart disease, stroke, hip fracture, and leg amputation. The benefits of such rehabilitation can be maximized only after any coexisting disorders (eg, arthritis, cognitive impairment), common in the elderly, are addressed. Speech disorders may also require rehabilitation.
