Introduction

Disorders of mineral metabolism are increasingly common among the elderly. They include bone diseases (eg, osteoporosis, osteomalcia, Paget's disease) and disorders of calcium (hypocalcemia, hypercalcemia), phosphate (hypophosphatemia, hyperphosphatemia), and magnesium (hypomagnesemia, hypermagnesemia).
