Lending a Hand to Fight Hunger in Local Communities

Despite the fact that the United States is one of the world’s most prosperous nations, hunger is a daily reality for 1 in 8 Americans. Through the Merck Community Initiative, we are helping community food banks and pantries provide healthy meals to children and seniors in need.

How We Are Helping

Merck is providing funding to the following programs:

• $50,000 to Meals on Wheels when rising food and fuel prices forced the organization to cut back in-home meal delivery to seniors
• $50,000 to bolster meal programs to children provided by the Community Food Bank of NJ and Philabundance, a Philadelphia - based food bank
• $100,000 in contributions to other local food banks near Merck’s major sites in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina and Puerto Rico

Employee Involvement

Our employees support the Merck Community Initiative by volunteering, organizing food drives and making donations that the company matches.
