COMMUNITY

As a global company that employs more than 100,000 people worldwide, we pride ourselves on the role we play in the communities where we live and work.

We look to work with communities, from those within miles of our facilities to those much further away. Our approach to doing so is to always listen to local needs and find ways to invest in areas relevant to our business and the skills of our people.

For example, through many hours of employee volunteerism, we've helped build shelters for those without homes, feed the hungry, clean local parks and streams, and much more. We also support science education so that our young children can explore the fundamentals of this discipline in the classroom, in the home and in their surrounding environment.

We are also collaborating with community-based organizations, healthcare providers, academic institutions and other stakeholders in underserved communities to address the growing epidemics of pediatric asthma and type 2 diabetes.

Closing the Gap in Diabetes Care

Studies show that certain groups of Americans are more likely to be diagnosed with diabetes, yet are less likely to have adequate healthcare to manage this disease. Through The Merck Company Foundation, Merck is working with groups in underserved communities to address this disparity.
