Merck donates $1 million to
Hand in Hand Hurricane Relief Fund

Hurricane Disaster Relief

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

Merck provides disaster-relief assistance through cash and product donations during major disasters and supports efforts in disaster preparedness and recovery. We are committed to helping those helping in the wake of these recent storms.

Merck today announced it has donated $1 million to the Hand in Hand Hurricane Relief Fund as part of Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Relief television fundraiser. The one-hour special will include a host of celebrities who are supporting Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma disaster relief. It will air live and commercial-free on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 8:00 p.m. EST/7:00 p.m. CST and re-air at 8:00pm PST on the West Coast of the U.S. For more information, visit

Providing Financial Support

In addition to our $1 million support for Hand in Hand, our company provided a $600,000 grant to the American Red Cross in May of this year as part of a multiyear commitment to the organization's disaster preparedness and relief efforts. This grant is now being used to respond to Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. In addition, we have committed up to $250,000 to support the efforts of additional partners that are responding to this disaster.

Donating Needed Medicines

We are also donating needed medicines, having already provided more than $325,000 in products through Direct Relief, one of our company's Merck Medical Outreach Program (MMOP) partners. Our other MMOP partners are conducting assessments, and we stand ready to provide additional medicines and vaccines, as appropriate.
