It's a powerful question that more than 1 in 8 couples — or about 7 million Americans — will likely ask themselves if they have trouble getting pregnant.

Infertility is a common medical condition that can be an extremely emotional and difficult experience for couples. It's often the emotional barriers, or simply a lack of information, that lead couples to delay seeking the help of a fertility specialist, which may impact their success.

It's Just a Conversation, a campaign launched by Merck and RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association, aims to inspire couples to remain hopeful and educate themselves by starting a conversation with a fertility specialist.

A feature of this campaign is FertilityGuide.com, an interactive website designed to provide couples with useful information that will help them start their fertility journey.

"Many couples having difficulty conceiving are looking for answers and don’t know where to turn. To some, speaking to a fertility specialist seems intimidating, but in reality, a specialist can be your biggest ally, providing you with the information you’re looking for and presenting options you didn’t know you had,” said leading health expert, Dr. Roshini Raj, M.D.  “As a doctor and a mom, I’ve been on both sides of the conversation - in fact, I spoke to a fertility specialist in my journey. Our message to couples today is, don’t wait to get the right kind of help.  A conversation with a specialist is a first step."
