Our company has unveiled the location for the state-of-the-art Discovery Research Center in central London. The new 220,000-square-foot research and business hub will be constructed opposite the city’s King’s Cross railway station in London’s “Knowledge Quarter.”
A total of 800 employees — including approximately 120 new positions — will make use of the $1.32 billion complex, which is expected to be completed in 2025. Construction on the complex will begin late next year following approval of building permits by the Camden Commission.
“We currently see the U.K. as a world leader in scientific development, driven by a long-term emphasis on building a strong research and development infrastructure,” says David Peacock, managing director for the U.K. and Ireland. “We look forward to being an active participant in the U.K.’s life sciences community.”
Our company first announced plans for the Discovery Research Center in December 2017. Currently, discovery scientists in the U.K. operate out of interim lab facilities at the London Bioscience Innovation Center and at the Francis Crick Institute until the Discovery Center is complete, while other colleagues work out of a business hub in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire.
