Ravinder Dhawan is vice president and head of the center for observational and real-world evidence (CORE) at Merck Research Laboratories (MRL). In this role, Dhawan and his team are responsible for generating evidence to support value propositions for Merck’s medicines and vaccines throughout their lifecycles.

Prior to his current role, Dhawan led the oncology product line within CORE and was responsible for generating evidence to support value proposition for Merck’s oncology products. Dhawan has more than 25 years of experience in outcomes research, market access and pharmaceutical pricing. Before joining Merck, he served as head of oncology outcomes research group at Sanofi and head of global market access for oncology and metabolics at Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceuticals.

Earlier, Dhawan held faculty positions at the University of Western Ontario and the University of Connecticut teaching health economics. Throughout his career, he has developed a wealth of experience in dealing with reimbursement and access issues with various health technology assessment agencies around the globe. Dhawan has authored over 50 abstracts, posters and publications in health economics and outcomes research.

Dhawan received his Ph.D. in health economics from the University of Connecticut. He holds master’s degrees from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, and Panjab University in Chandigarh, India, in economics and econometrics and quantitative economics, respectively.
